Nowadays a dog is more than just a pet, it’s a member of the family: loved, pampered and respected! Luckily, travelling with your four-legged friend is increasingly easy, as many seaside and lakeside resorts are putting measures in place to accommodate animals and welcome them as part of their owners’ summer holidays.

At Lake Garda there are plenty of beaches open or equipped for dog owners, in addition to all the outdoor activities and nature trails accessible on foot. And that’s why it’s becoming more and more popular and valued by families. At Boffenigo, your four-legged friends are not just welcome, they’re real VIPs! Very Important Pets! And they’re welcomed here every day by our extremely pampered Lapo, the B-Family corgi.

Which Lake Garda beaches are open to dogs? Where can they play and cool down in the water on blazing summer days, or simply enjoy cuddles under the parasol? Some beaches even have facilities specially designed for dogs: feeding stations, waste bags and dedicated bins, reserved parasols and so on.

The dog-friendly beaches of Lake Garda

Peschiera del Garda: Braccobaldo Bau Beach offers everything dogs and their owners need. When you hire a sun bed, you also get a free dog bed and a welcome pack with a bowl, a blanket, waste bags and a phone hook. There are also showers and fenced dog toilet areas.

Castelnuovo del Garda: dogs can only access the free beach between Porto Campanello and Gardaland.

Lazise: dogs can enjoy the free beach towards Peschiera and in front of the municipal campsite.

Garda: you can take your dog on the beach if there are no other bathers there.

Bardolino: you can take your dog on the free beach between Garda and Bardolino, but only if there are no other people.

Malcesine: dogs can enjoy the free beaches at Val di Sogno and Campagnola.

Torri del Benaco: free beach on the road to Pai and towards Garda; no dogs allowed if other bathers are present.

Salò: towards Portese there’s a free beach for those who want to take their four-legged friend for a swim. It has drinking water available, benches and waste bins.

Toscolano Maderno: here there are approximately 700 metres of free beach (Bau Beach) with a lifeguard, refreshments, drinking troughs and play areas for children and dogs.

Manerba del Garda: in summer, the fenced Fido Beach is open from 8 to 12 and 14 to 19; entry is free of charge. Parasols, sun beds and dog mats are available for hire. There are also dog training courses and lessons.

Moniga: except where there are signs banning dogs, on the beach near Via Mazzane, next to the port, and near Campeggio Fontanelle, you can take your dog on the beach.

Gargnano: dogs can only enter the beach of Viale Rimembranza, near Palazzo Feltrinelli. This is the only beach which allows dogs.

Desenzano: free access for dogs between Spiaggia d’Oro and Porto di Rivoltella.

Sirmione: dogs can be taken on the beach in permitted areas, but only on a lead. Beaches that do not allow dogs display a sign to this effect.
